Yuanhua Tech
Yuanhua Tech describes itself as the only Chinese company with complete in-house development capabilities for all core components of orthopedic surgical robots. Founded in Shenzhen in December 2018, the company has established a product portfolio spanning orthopedic surgery, gastroenterology, and natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (NOTES).
Company Overview
Yuanhua Robotics, Perception and AI Technologies Ltd. was established with a strategic focus on import substitution in the high-end medical robotics sector. The company operates through wholly-owned subsidiaries: Yuanhua Orthopaedic Robotics (Shenzhen) Limited for orthopedic systems, and Milvus Technologies Limited for endoscopic and interventional products.
In 2022, the company established its international headquarters at Hong Kong Science Park, becoming one of the first enterprises signed by Hong Kong’s Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises (OASES). Yuanhua Tech has since received official recognition as a “Hong Kong Brand” from the Hong Kong Brand Development Council.
The founding team includes Professor Qinghu Meng, an academician serving as Chief Scientist, who received the IROS Harashima Award for Innovative Technologies in October 2025—the first mainland Chinese scholar to receive this honor since the award’s establishment in 2007.
Core Products
KUNWU® Orthopedic Surgical Robot
The flagship KUNWU® system is described by Yuanhua as a “five-in-one” orthopedic surgical robot, integrating total knee arthroplasty (TKA), total hip arthroplasty (THA), unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA), spine surgery, and trauma surgery on a single platform. The system received NMPA Innovative Medical Device designation through the “Green Path” special approval process in November 2021.
NMPA approval milestones include: TKA (April 2022), THA (March 2023), UKA (July 2024), and Spine/Trauma indications (2025). The robot has been deployed in over 100 hospitals across China, completing more than 5,000 clinical procedures at institutions including PLA General Hospital, West China Hospital, and Prince of Wales Hospital in Hong Kong.
Wireless Capsule Endoscopy System
Developed by subsidiary Milvus Technologies, the capsule endoscopy platform includes both active (robotic-controlled) and passive wireless systems for non-invasive gastrointestinal examination. The system features proprietary AI-assisted diagnostic software for automated image analysis.
NOTES and Interventional Robots
The company is developing specialized natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery robots and intelligent puncture/intervention robots through its Milvus Technologies subsidiary.
Technology & Innovation
Yuanhua Tech distinguishes itself through complete vertical integration of core technologies. The company independently develops navigation systems, cooperative robotic arms specifically designed for orthopedic surgery, and deep-learning surgical planning software.
The KUNWU® system achieves sub-millimeter precision (0.1mm level) through several proprietary technologies: a 335Hz high-refresh-rate navigation system, 7-degree-of-freedom robotic arm, and AI-driven preoperative planning algorithms. Clinical trials demonstrated advantages over manual surgery in limb alignment restoration and prosthesis placement accuracy.
The open platform design supports compatibility with multiple implant brands, imaging equipment manufacturers, and pressure sensors, enhancing clinical adaptability across global markets.
Market Presence
KUNWU® has established seven clinical centers and partnerships with 17 hospitals ranked in Fudan University’s Hospital Ranking. Clinical collaborations include PLA General Hospital First Medical Center, West China Hospital of Sichuan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University Ruijin Hospital, and Hong Kong’s Prince of Wales Hospital.
The company has participated in the China International Import Expo (CIIE) for three consecutive years, using the platform to showcase its five-in-one orthopedic robot to global audiences.
